Halloween Treats

Vegan Treats came out with this amazing pastry for Halloween - it's a pumpkin spice mousse confection. It has layers of molasses cake filled with pumpkin-ginger mousse and covered in a chocolate shell (with an edible fondant bat decoration). Amazing. I don't know if I can wait for the next Halloween for another!!

Blog Action Day

I tried to think of what I would post about today... I don't really have time to research environmental issues, and Al Gore's Nobel Prize win is overplayed in mainstream media (though Apple's coverage on their homepage was pretty cool).

Anyway, I frequently stop at the grocery store for just a handful of items and I never remember to bring a plastic bag with me...

That said, I found these adorable bags in this month's
They are from

They roll up and can be stored in your purse or in the tote for larger shopping trips. The set was $30.

Gentle Lead Collar

I went to a benefit 'carnival' for a greyhound rescue today. They had doggie massages, doggie bubble baths, homemade treats, handmade blankets/throws/jackets/etc, other 'gourmet' dog wares, a photographer, and a tricky-tray!

I bought $20 worth of tickets for the tricky tray, and put most in for a gift basket, and a few others for a Gentle Lead Collar - I won them both! I'll post a picture of the basket later, I'm so excited, I never win things like this!!

I'm excited to try the collar out on George, I think it will help him walk better!

I also sat for the photography - George and I are now immortalized forever! I'll post those when I get them as well, they came out SO nicely!! He's such a handsome guy!

"Vegan-sexuals" ...

Lindyloo over at Yeah, that Vegan Shit posted this as her Question of the Month (paraphrased):

Would you, as a vegan, date an omni?

Anyway, I thought that it was interesting and wanted to share my views.

Vegan Freaks Podcast addressed this a few podcasts ago, and spoke about it in their Newsweek Article and I have to agree with Bob, the term 'vegan-sexuals' is totally lame.

Anyway, here is my take:

My response to this has change DRASTICALLY over the years.

When I first became vegetarian, I didn't care what my significant other ate...then I decided that I preferred to date other vegetarians since I found meat so disgusting.

THEN I became vegan and my boyfriend at the time was vegetarian. I was okay with that. In fact, I dated a few other vegetarians in the meantime.

Finally, I met my husband, who was vegan - I realized that veganism was such a life-driving philosophy that I don't know how I could possibly marry someone who wasn't vegan. I know that many people have fantastic relationships with omnis, but for me, I couldn't be happier than with my vegan partner.

What is your take??
